Christmas May Be Over, But Scarf Season Is Only Just Beginning

Christmas May Be Over, But Scarf Season Is Only Just Beginning

Christmas decorations may be coming down, the last mince pie might be gone, and routines are slowly returning - but winter? Winter is only just getting started.

In fact, the coldest part of winter in the UK often arrives after Christmas, with January well known for chilly mornings, frosty evenings and sometimes (if we are lucky.. yep, i am one of those snow lovers! Shock Horror hahah!) snowfall.

So i am very excited to see that it is all over the news and weather forecasts that the first couple of weeks of January 2026 are meant to be freezing temperatures and bitter winds, making warm winter accessories an everyday essential rather than a luxury.

Scarves = A Winter Essential Well Into January & Beyond

It can be tempting to pack winter accessories away with the Christmas Decorations, but scarves are needed for at least another two months - especially during January and February when cold snaps are at their worst.

Whether you’re:

  • Heading back to work during dark, frosty mornings
  • Doing school runs in freezing temperatures
  • Walking the dog through icy air
  • Or wrapping up for winter walks and errands

A warm, soft scarf is one of the easiest and most effective ways to stay cosy without bulky layers.

Why Scarves Matter in Freezing UK Weather

A good winter scarf does more than complete an outfit. It helps:

  • Trap warmth around the neck and chest
  • Protect against cold winds and chills
  • Add an extra insulating layer on snowy or frosty days

And let’s not forget my favourite aspect ... style. Scarves are a simple way to add colour, texture and personality to winter coats and knitwear - especially when wardrobes tend to be a wee bit darker during the colder months.

Winter Scarves That Last Beyond Christmas

At Shimena, my collection of women’s scarves and pashminas is designed to carry you through the heart of winter. From beautifully soft everyday scarves to cosy pashminas that feel like a warm hug, each piece is chosen with comfort, warmth and timeless style in mind.

Christmas gifting may be over, but winter dressing certainly isn’t. With January’s freezing temperatures still ahead, now is the perfect time to invest in a new Shimena scarf that will keep you warm, cosy and stylish well into the new year.
